Job Title: Field Service Engineer

Position: Permanent Career Vacancy (Full Time)

An opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated Field Service Engineer as a result of growing business and increased contract wins in the electricity industry. The role predominately involves installing and maintaining a large fleet of Condition Monitoring equipment for clients throughout the UK as well as carrying out site surveys and electrical testing — primarily Partial Discharge measurements in air insulated and gas insulated substations. The equipment will typically be located within HV electrical compounds which you will be expected to travel to using company vehicles.

Main Responsibilities:

• Installation of new condition monitoring equipment including subsystems and communications such as Partial Discharge (PD) monitors and Dissolved Gas Analysers (DGA)
• PD surveys within HV substations
• Removal and relocation of existing systems
• Corrective maintenance
• Regular travel throughout the UK. May be opportunities elsewhere in future
• Manage and maintain spares and service equipment at the company premises
• Preparation of documentation and reports to support the field related work

Experience & Skills Required:

• At least 2 years’ experience installing and maintaining electrical equipment
• Minimum of HNC in relevant engineering background
• Problem solving
• Strong written and verbal skills
• Self-starter with a can-do attitude and willingness to learn
• Current full UK driving licence

Desirable:

• Power industry experience
• Data handling, planning, analysis and reporting skills

Job Title: Hardware Electronics Design Engineer

Elimpus is a hi-tech SME providing specialist condition monitoring systems and services to electricity transmission and distribution network operators. As our business expands, we are looking for dynamic individuals to join our high calibre team.

This is an Electronics Engineering Hardware Design role for someone with real world experience of circuit design, schematic creation, PCB layout, board testing and debugging. This would cover analog and digital design, from conditioning small signals, to microcontroller interfaces. They would be expected to work independently, as part of a small project team.

Education:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience
• Ideally degree level, or adequate experience to carry out design work

• Wide analog and digital understanding
• Design of analog circuits including:
  • Op amps

Job Title: Junior Electronics Engineer

Position: Permanent Career Vacancy (Full Time)

Elimpus is a hi-tech SME providing specialist condition monitoring systems and services to electricity transmission and distribution network operators. As our business expands, we are looking for dynamic individuals to join our high calibre team.

This is an entry level position into Electronics Engineering and as a junior member of the team you will initially be responsible for technician level support providing hands-on circuit build and testing, debug of failed boards/circuits, fault finding and root cause analysis. It is anticipated that you will also be involved in circuit design (with relevant training and support).

Experience & Skills Required:

• Ideally degree level in electronics area
• Knowledge of analog circuits and design:
  
  • Op-amps
  • AC and DC measurements
  • Simple on-board power supply
  • Logic or analog driver circuits
  • RF understanding
  • Noise and low signal understanding
• Knowledge of simple digital circuits and design:
  • Discrete logic
  • Basic communication methods
  • Pic processors (or other microcontrollers)
  • FPGA operation when connecting to other circuits
• Hands on circuit building and test experience:
  • Basic soldering capability, mainly surface mount
  • Choosing or selecting components, if ideal is not available
  • Building the circuits that have been designed
  • Ability to test the built circuit, and adjust as required
• PC literate, able to use:
  • Windows-based systems
  • Word
  • Excel
  • Teams
  • Outlook
• Be able to work within a small team, reporting to senior engineers
• Driving licence or some means to travel to get to Strathclyde Business Park

Typical requests may be to:

• Design a circuit (with support) to measure a 1mA AC 50Hz signal and create a proportional 5V AC output
• Investigate failed boards or circuits to debug and find the fault
