Working through EIC, Elimpus have been awarded an innovation project to develop a monitoring system that will assist in solving an unusual problem with cable sealing ends (CSE).
Initial modelling investigations have been carried out as part of a Proof of Concept and showed that the theory for this monitoring system would be successful in detecting defects.
The project will develop a fully commercialised system that will be installed on a live substation site with the suspect CSEs.
The monitoring system would be integrated into the utility’s alerting system and flag any suspect activity.
