Job Title: Junior Electronics Engineer

Position: Permanent Career Vacancy (Full Time)

Elimpus is a hi-tech SME providing specialist condition monitoring systems and services to electricity transmission and distribution network operators. As our business expands, we are looking for dynamic individuals to join our high calibre team.

This is an entry level position into Electronics Engineering and as a junior member of the team you will initially be responsible for technician level support providing hands-on circuit build and testing, debug of failed boards/circuits, fault finding and root cause analysis. It is anticipated that you will also be involved in circuit design (with relevant training and support).

Experience & Skills Required:

• Ideally degree level in electronics area
• Knowledge of analog circuits and design:
  • Op-amps
  • AC and DC measurements
  • Simple on-board power supply
  • Logic or analog driver circuits
  • RF understanding
  • Noise and low signal understanding
• Knowledge of simple digital circuits and design:
  • Discrete logic
  • Basic communication methods
  • Pic processors (or other microcontrollers)
  • FPGA operation when connecting to other circuits
• Hands on circuit building and test experience:
  • Basic soldering capability, mainly surface mount
  • Choosing or selecting components, if ideal is not available
  • Building the circuits that have been designed
  • Ability to test the built circuit, and adjust as required
• PC literate, able to use:
  • Windows-based systems
  • Word
  • Excel
  • Teams
  • Outlook
• Be able to work within a small team, reporting to senior engineers
• Driving licence or some means to travel to get to Strathclyde Business Park

Typical requests may be to:

• Design a circuit (with support) to measure a 1mA AC 50Hz signal and create a proportional 5V AC output
• Investigate failed boards or circuits to debug and find the fault
